This past weekend, 14 GOAL swimmers and many of their parents
travelled to Tucson, Arizona for the Tucson Ford Dealers Southwest
Classic. Brynn Robertson, Marquise Jones and Jacob Hangren
swam in the BB Meet on Fri-Sun. afternoons, achieving a great
majority of lifetime best times. Jacob placed top 8 in the
200 breast (1st - 3:11.38), 100 breast (2nd - 1:28.37), 200 IM (4th
- 2:50.64), 100 free (5th - 1:08.66), and 200 free (6th -
2:29.66). Marquise placed top 8 in the 200 free (7th -
2:15.22) and the 100 fly (8th - 1:11.57).
Swimming in the senior prelim final meet were Grace Raynor, Anna
Rosenlof, Alex Frey, Afton Robertson, Tom Gasnick, Robert Gasnick,
Will Raynor, Louis Landen, Zach Jacobsen, Michael Stein, and Chad
Wiley. Will made the A Final in the 200 back, finishing 8th
place (2:14.41 prelims time). The 800 Free Relay team of
Raynor, Tom Gasnick, Robert Gasnick, and Zach Jacobsen took 7th
with a 8:26.55. The 400 Medley Relay of Raynor, Louis Landen,
Michael Stein, and Tom Gasnick placed 7th with a 4:16.54. We
had several great swims in the B, C and D Finals. Many
olympians, including Matt Grevers and Amanda Beard, were very
gracious to all the swimmers hounding them for pictures,
autographs, and just conversations. The GOAL swimmers (and
coach) left the pool on Sunday night to take a team photo outside
the pool, then proceded to snare Matt Grevers to join us in the
picture (probably on Facebook by now!).
